Nonstick tawa is considered the easiest option for making the South Indian dosa.  But this tawa is harmful to health due to the chemical coatings used on it.  Iron tawa will burn the dosa or the chapathi as it gets heated up very quickly making the cooking difficult.  Cast iron tawa is the best option to use for making rotis / dosa / pesarattu or pav bhaji as well. The main advantage of cast iron skillets is that it has very high volumetric heat capacity, which means that once it's hot, it stays hot. The truth is, as long as your cast iron is seasoned well and free of rust, you’ll be able to cook a wide variety of flavourful, delicious foods for many years to come.

Though it may be a little heavy approx. 2 kgs, it is worth the inconvenience for the life long service it gives and the taste of the food.

This is a pre seasoned cast iron kadai ready to be used immediately on purchase. You can use a little warm soapy water and scrub it with the kitchen sponge. Make sure to dry it and then apply a thin layer of oil, heat it on the stove top and let it cool. It is ready for the next use now.
