Urad Dal is also known as split black lentils and also black gram dal. This is a black seed containing a white interior. Urad dal whole white lentil retains the original texture of dal and is free from pesticides and additives. This is a lentil with a mildly bitter flavor and a slightly slippery texture that tends to cook up thick and that makes it great as a binding agent in culinary preparations like idli and dosa. Urad dal contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. This is used to make home made skin packs to treat skin problems like acne.
